The Leadership Speculation Clock has been reset to zero after 340 days, 12 hours and 56 minutes.
340 days is a modern record for the clock; during Ms Gillard’s Prime Ministership it was being reset on average every 47 minutes.
The clock measures the number of days since the last media speculation about the tenability of the Prime Minister’s position.
The clock had been counting upwards since Kevin Rudd replaced Julia Gillard as Prime Minister in June 2013.
It previously seemed likely that Tony Abbott would see the clock past 365 days, however a number of recent comments from Andrew Bolt reset the clock just two weeks short of the milestone.
The Clock had just passed 7 hours and 5 minutes at the time of writing.
